Classification of Pneumatic Fittings

Each type possesses distinct characteristics capable of meeting diverse needs-such as connecting, redirecting, branching, and enabling quick disconnection-within pneumatic systems, making them vital components in industrial pneumatic circuits.
Categorized by structural design, pneumatic fittings include straight connectors, elbows, tees, crosses, and bulkhead fittings. Straight connectors are primarily used for linear connections between two sections of tubing; elbows change the direction of the airflow and are ideal for installations where space is limited; tees and crosses facilitate airflow branching, allowing multiple pneumatic components to operate simultaneously; and bulkhead fittings enable connections that pass through equipment panels or partition walls.
Based on connection methods, pneumatic fittings can be classified as push-to-connect, threaded, compression, or quick-connect fittings. Push-to-connect fittings offer easy installation-requiring only the insertion of the tube-and are widely used in automation equipment; threaded fittings rely on screw threads for secure, stable connections; and compression fittings are suitable for systems requiring high sealing performance.
Classified by material and operating environment, pneumatic fittings are available in plastic, brass, and stainless steel versions. Plastic fittings are lightweight and cost-effective, making them suitable for standard pneumatic equipment; brass fittings offer high strength and a broad range of applications; and stainless steel fittings provide excellent corrosion resistance, making them ideal for specialized environments such as the food, medical, and chemical industries.
Specialized types-such as speed-control fittings, silencer fittings, and rotary fittings-are also available to meet specific functional requirements. These products enable airflow speed regulation, noise reduction, and connections for moving parts. Selecting the appropriate type of pneumatic fitting enhances the efficiency and operational stability of the pneumatic system.
